Punjabi singer Satwinder Bitti, along with former players Karamjit Kaur and Paramjit Singh, joined the Congress here on Tuesday.
After joining the party in the presence of state Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh, Bitti said Punjab needed a strong leader like Amarinder.
Speaking on the occasion, the Punjab Congress chief gave a clean chit to newly appointed Punjab Congress affairs incharge Kamal Nath. Amarinder said Kamal Nath was there to pacify crowds and was never involved in instigating them during the anti-Sikh riots of 1984. “An innocent man is being sacrificed for the sake of politics,” he said, adding that AAP leader HS Phoolka had brought in one Mukhtiar Singh to file an affidavit against Kamal Nath for political reasons.
